Supplying Artwork

At The Promotion Factory we request all artwork to be supplied as high resolution PDF's. Please follow our step-by-step guidelines on how to prepare your artwork.

1. Checking your artwork

It is very important to review your document’s bleeds, trim marks and safe zone prior to uploading
(see image below).

Bleed

If you wish to have coloured backgrounds or images continue to the edge of the product they must continue 3mm past the trim marks to create a bleed margin. If they do not continue to the full bleed margin you most likely will end up with white strips along the edge of the product due to cutting tolerance.

Trim

The product will be cut on the trim mark (black line), however the cut may shift up to 1.5mm in any direction.

Safe Zone

The text or other elements you want to guarantee not to be trimmed off must be placed within the safe zone. If they are placed directly next to the trim mark and the cutting is off but within tolerance, the text will be chopped off. Ensure your text is at least 5mm inside the trim marks.

2. Is your document the correct size?

When uploading your own artwork ensure your artwork is set to the correct size. See table below for correct sizes:

3. Ensuring your document is CMYK

It is very important to check your document’s colour settings. If it says “RGB”, the colours you see on screen will be much different than the printed colours.

4. Images

Changing colour settings in Photoshop:
Go to the 'Image Menu' and choose “Color Mode”.
Check mark will appear next to current color mode.
Select CMYK Color.

Resolution:
You should ensure that all images are at least 300dpi. Images on the web have a resolution of 72dpi which is to low for printing (see below).

5. Proofing

Always check your document for spelling and layout. You are responsible for proof reading your own files.
